_Before discovering the many facts regarding (and benefits accrued from) studying a
______second language, take a few moments to consider the following points:

___________________________________________CONSIDER
In his latest book, David Crystal, one of the worlds foremost experts on  the subject of language, points out
that
"...multilingualism is the normal human condition.  It is a principle which often takes people by surprise.
If  you  have  lived  your  whole  life  in  a  monolingual  environment,  you could easily come to believe  that
this  is the regular way of life around the world, and that people who speak more than one language  are  the
exceptions.  Exactly the reverse is the case.
Speaking two or more languages is the natural way of life for
three-quarters of the human race.
"  How Language Works, p.409

___________________________________________CONSIDER
In  Biblical  times,  it  was  a  given  that  people  speak  multiple  languages.  As  all  people  in  His  day, Jesus
too  spoke  at  least  THREE  languages
 (Aramaic, Hebrew & Greek).

___________________________________________CONSIDER
Whether you are a student, teacher, nuclear engineer, rapper, nurse, football player, secretary, stay-at-home
parent,  pastor,  politician,  republican  or  democrat,  young  or  old,  of  African  heritage, Asian,  or Caucasian,
we all nonetheless live in the same 21st century.  Our lives in this century will be impacted   by  our world's
inevitable  "globalization"  reality   in  which  understanding  other  cultures,
through  communication   in
other  languages,  will   be  CRITICAL   to   our  successes  and  freedoms
